The San Joaquin Valley Clean Cities newsletter is issued quarterly in April, July, October, and January to members via email.

Saurday, April 30.  Bakersfield, CA.  Today seven individuals representing San Joaquin Valley Clean Cities Coalition, Valley Air District, Kern Commuter Connection, Valley CAN, Kern Energy Watch, Kern Regional Transit, and Golden Empire Transit, manned two tables at the CSUB Celebrates! event in Bakersfield.  College students took home information about clean commute options such as transit, cycling, and carpooling.  Nearby residents learned how they can trade in their gasoline-powered lawn mowers for a deep discount on rechargeable battery powered versions.  Elementary school students found out that most of our air pollution comes from cars, trucks and buses - except when they are Golden Empire Transit buses fueled with CNG.

Toyota North sponsored the stage acts.  And the event brought back an old college tradition of trying to see how many college students fit into a small car!

CSUB Execuitve Assistant to the President, Evelyn Young stopped by to let us know she will be meeting soon with the Air Pollution Control Officer of the Valley Air District to discuss how they can work together to better integrate clean transportation options on campus and between the campus and the community.
